EPA Expands Testing of Lead in Soil in Chattanooga, TN

As reported in the Chattanooga Times Free Press on December 14, 2016, “Lead-based paint and leaded gasoline are typical sources of lead contamination in soil, but foundry waste from Chattanooga’s industrial past is suspected to be the source of the problems”.

Editor’s note: Here is another situation that can result in the lead poisoning of children who play in the yards of homes in older neighborhoods and typically put dirty hands into their mouths. If you are concerned about your child, have him or her tested by a physician or nurse for elevated blood lead levels.
